WOODLAND Emerging from the misty old-growth forests of America's Pacific northwest, Woodland is a mythic music ensemble featuring the original songwriting and poetic harmonies of Emilio and Kelly Miller-Lopez. For more than 9 years Woodland has been enchanting audiences throughout the US and Europe with a unique blend of original and traditional melodies woven with meaningful bardic poetry.Woodland has been working with Imaginosis and UK artists Brian and Wendy Froud for the past decade, creating immersive events and festivals and masquerades across America.
Woodland's music features a variety of folk and electric instrumentation combined with the sensibilities of an American improvisational festival rock band. Lead vocalist Kelly Miller-Lopez is featured on the harp, flutes, percussion, and chief songwriter Emilio Miller-Lopez is featured on guitar and harmony vocals. Fiddler Kimmy Smith brings traditional reel and jig arrangements to the repertoire, while enhancing the counterpoint melodic tonality of the groups original compositions. Woodland also features an electric rhythm section comprised of bassist and didjeridu player Donald Brodsky and drummer/percussionst and electronica wizard Markus Johnson.
Woodland concerts are "immersive" live experiences, which feature the bands enchanting mix of live improvisation and ornate song structure, performed for a devoted fanbase who arrive at their shows dressed in full faerie regalia. Woodland's self-produced masquerades and Faerieworlds events have been hugely successful for five years, with attendance between 500-12,000 per event. Woodland has performed and headlined at events including The Labyrinth Masquerade in Los Angeles, An Evening in Elfland in Glastonbury UK, Earthdance near San Francisco, The Witches Ball in London, The Oregon Country Fair, The Fairy Ball in Cornwall, England, The Good Faeries / Bad Faeries Masquerades on both coasts, FaerieCon in Philadelphia and the Faerieworlds festivals in Sedona, Santa Fe, Los Angeles and Oregon.
The band has shared the stage at events with world-renowned artists including Faun, Qntal, Solas, Johnny Cunningham, Priscilla Hernandez, Susan McKeown, Trillian Green, Rasputina, Brother, Casey Neill, Phil Cunningham, Kevin Burke and more.Woodland's festivals, concerts and faerie masquerades often coincide with seasonal celebrations such as solstices, equinoxes and full moons, adding to the intention and experience of the groups live music.
DELHI TO DUBLIN We are happy to announce the return of acclaimed worldbeat band Delhi 2 Dublin. D2D is a group of five master musicians who blend electronica and world music, keeping it heavy on the Bhangra, Celtic and Dub flavours. Fusing tabla, celtic fiddle, dhol, Punjabi vocals, and electric sitar with scorching electronic beats, this band takes listeners on a wild ride through global sounds and musical synchronicities.
Originally formed for a one-shot performance during Vancouver's Celtic Fest in March of 2006, word of their foot stomping, high energy live set started to spread, and the project took on a life of its own.Since then, D2D has been busy gigging constantly, touring Eastern Canada and California, playing some of Canada's largest festivals (including the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Shambhala, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues) as well as being invited to open the massive Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in 2007.
They've shared the bill with names like De La Soul, Cheb i Sabbah, and Metric, and have found a cult following in many of British Columbia's smaller communities and towns.Their debut album "Delhi 2 Dublin" reached #3 on the Canadian world music charts and receives consistent airplay from Japan to Eastern Europe to the UK. After their show-stopping performance at Faerieworlds we had to bring them back to headline this winter's masquerades!
