ANNOUNCING "THE RETURN TO ELFLAND TOUR"
The American mythic rock band Woodland, and the UK's Daughters of Gaia have announced The Return to Elfland Tour which will include dates throughout the UK this fall. The tour begins on Friday October 13th in Cornwall at the Acorn Theatre at the Faery Ball, UK, which is to include special guests Brian and Wendy Froud. The event at the Acorn will feature a headlining set of "Music from the Realm" by Woodland, and an opening set by the enchanted dance band, Daughters of Gaia.
Woodland comes to the lush green shores of the UK after 5 years of co-producing mythic Faerie themed events throughout the western United States. The band has been working hand in hand with Imaginosis, Brian and Wendy Froud to create live concert events that bring together artists from around the world whose work reflects the beauty and magic of the realm of Faerie. The culmination of these events is the International Faerieworlds Festival (www.faerieworlds.com), a full-weekend main stage concert event and art show that has featured the world's premiere faerie inspired artists and musicians. |

Woodland's work has been deeply inspired by the Devon based artists Brian and Wendy Froud, the creative visionaries who were the conceptual designers behind Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth films. Brian's best-selling book Faeries, which he co-designed with Tolkien artist Alan Lee, has received international acclaim and is cherished by fans of Faerie world-wide. Brian and Wendy have published many other best-selling titles over the last 25 years including the Cottington Pressed Fairy books, Goblins, Good Faeries/Bad Faeries, A Midsummer Nights Fairy Tale and many more.
In addition to appearing at the Faery Ball at the Acorn Theatre on Friday the 13th, Woodland, Brian and Wendy Froud will also be attending the Faery, Angel and Healing Fayre, on 14th and 15th October at St Johns Hall, Penzance in magical Cornwall. The Fayre will feature many celebrated healers, crafts people and artists all within the magical Faery and Angel theme. Book and CD signings by Woodland and the Frouds will be available during both events. Supporting act, the Daughters of Gaia will also be promoting their new CD, 'Ancient Future' which will be for sale along with Woodland CD's at all venues.
After the weekend in Cornwall, Woodland and Daughters of Gaia will travel onwards to Glastonbury for a special Friday night appearance, also to feature artist and author Brian Froud. "An Evening In Elfland", and will feature two full sets of music by Woodland, with an Opening set by Daughters of Gaia. The event will take place in the historic Assembly Rooms, which is a magical venue in the heart of Glastonbury that dates back to the 1860's. The event in Glastonbury will take place on Friday October 20th from 8pm until midnight. A booksigning with Brian Froud will take place at Gothic Image in Glastonbury before the event.
The tour then travels on to London for the Halloween Festival, a weekend Event which will include special guest Caitlin Mathews, Woodland, Daughters of Gaia and many more. The Halloween Festival is a benefit event for the Raven Wood conservation project, and will prove to be magical finale for Woodland's premiere journey to the UK. The event will feature a Saturday set by Daughters of Gaia and a headlining Sunday set by Woodland.
ABOUT WOODLAND
Woodland is an original five-piece musical ensemble, featuring the poetic song writing and vocal harmonies of Emilio and Kelly Miller-Lopez. For more than five years Woodland has headlined festivals and events in America, and now they are about to take the UK by storm. The band consists of, Kelly Miller-Lopez on the harp, flutes and lead vocals, and Emilio Miller-Lopez on guitar and harmony vocals. The rhythm section features drummer Joshua Crist, with bassist and didgeridoo player Donald Brodsky. Fiddler, Kimmy Smith adds a traditional edge to the bands unique sound, with a diverse repertoire of Celtic jigs and reels.
Together this unique group of performers create an ambient yet energetic live music experience, which, combined with the amazing artwork of Brian Froud seen during the mystical World of Froud light show, and with the delightful support from the wild and enchanted Daughters of Gaia, will make for a truly magical and unforgettable evening out.
